Rolled it and drove away!

Out on the interstate 65 east of Lafayette in the wee hours this moring, apparently, a fellow was driving along and somehow lost control of his van rolled it over and it landed catlike on its wheels. Apparently he found it was still running so put it in gear and took off. He drove it to the nearest exit which was little Dayton Indiana with two tires down to the rim. Somewhere along the way he attracted the attention of our alert local constablry and they decided to investigate the adventurous fellow. They found him soundly inebriated and promptly sent him to the GRAYBAR motel. ( I got that name from one of my Lawyer friends who told the story at lunch).....

I am tempted to say only in Indiana but you know...

My lawyer says even though he didn't hit anything they can charge him with leaving the scene of a pd accident since he would have had to damage the grass!

Your lawyer needs to stick to business/finance if he thinks there is a good chance of convicting the guy on that charge unless the alleged perp talked while he was in the tank.

What's wrong with that? My wife rolled our Land Cruiser FJ55 on I-80 in Wyoming. We landed on 4 wheels. We had an Old Town canoe on top and you could see the impression of the canoe in the dirt where the truck came down on top of it. One tire came off the rim and a back window was broken when my tool box hit it. We were way down an embankment but it was 4wd so I said what the hell, changed the tire, started it up and drove up the hill. A cop arrived just as we were getting ready to leave. After sorting that out, we continued on to our destination and had a great paddle down the Green River. Needless to say, I have a great appreciation for Land Cruisers and Old Town canoes.

My uncle hit a deer a few years ago and reported it the following morning.....after a few Bloody Mary's. The cop was unimpressed with his morning glow and cited him for leaving the scene of an accident, the ticket didn't stick but the cop still had the balls to write it.

Well now, leastways nobody was killed, nobody was grievously injured, cept maybe the pride of the van pilot so all's well as ends well.

I was high once and rolled my Gramps's Hisso and fractured the cast brass windshield stanchions.I came clean and it cost me $1,200.00 in 1979 dollars to get'em remade, the body and paintwork I had to do myself

Sorry didn't mean to say my lawyer but meant to say one of my lawyer friends. And I misquoted him too. What he actually said was not that it was convictable but that a cop might write a ticket for leaving the scene. To me it looks pretty thin, but since they caught him soused it might get written in as a throw away charge.

Actually he has been my lawyer on occasion as far as that goes.

I once left the scene of an accident and got the ***** beat out of me. That was the day I developed a newfound respect for my father's right cross.

Don't worry. The Wayback Machine will still have them. And let's not forget all those people who quote you in their replies.

My dad used to tell us stories about naughty things he did as a young man. I always marveled at the fact he told us these things when we were young.

I like telling my grandchildren stories but I never told my own kids about the foolish things I did when I was young and foolish! Well.....at least not til they were adults and past the point of my influence.

I've told my kids a lot of my stories (or they were present when i was retelling them). No sense hiding the old stuff. My hope is that it will add weight and credibility to the other things I tell them.
Somehow (and I don't know how), I have managed to keep from going turtle. Seen quite a few do it at various race tracks....

The best part about the stories you tell the kiddies is if you happen to have the scars and "crude stitching" (that was usually done in haste 'cause your doctor didn't take too kind to all the screaming (usually from the Moms, more than the kid himself!)) to show them...

The battery acid scars I have always shuts down the "...I've got one to top that!" guy...

And, it does scare the kids...
