test drove a smart today

I went to the orlando smart center before hitting IKEA again.

I played with a few in the show room and laughed at the Carlsson packaged car( 12k for a body kit and an exhaust, plus the cost of the car!)

Eagle-co94 was with me.

The saleswoman took me for a ride in a black passion with paddle shifters. She showed me how everything worked and handed over the keys. I wasn't used to the brakes since its a new car, compared to my old 300D. I was playing with the manual transmission part and had it figured out. I went back to the dealership and she said I could take another lap around the test route with my friend so we could talk it over.

hehehe.

Soon as I got out of sight of the dealership I wanted to see how well it accelerated from a dead stop with the paddle shifters. I floored it and after all my research on the smart car forum I had no issue shifting with the paddle shifters and tossing it around in the corners. I zipped in and out of traffic and found an empty road. I told james I wanted to test the brakes so he prepared. from 70-0 with no issues then back to 70. The ASR or w/e it was wouldn't let me smoke the tires but I did like the turn radius.

After testing the nav and radio we went back. It's a decent car but not for me. For the price of a new smart I could get a mini cooper s with a 6 speed, which I am entertaining at the moment.

I did tell them I am still interested and would like to receive their updates by email and mail. If I can pick one up in a few years for under 10k I wouldn't mind it as a spare care to the delorean.

Pretty much, I was somewhat impressed with it. It was very go-kart like and different driving a car with the front and rear wheels a foot in front/behind me.

but like I said for the same price I can get a mini cooper s

Its smaller than my Golf which is to small of a car for me. I'm finding out that an E class or SWB S is about as small of a car as I can live with.

What are they asking for Smarts now?

I don't buy new cars, but I might be willing to pick one up on the used market in a few years if they hold up well.

They had 3 pure's starting at 12k with AC

then the passions, some cabrio's and that stupid Carlsson car..

I can get a nice Mini Cooper S for around 12k... Sell the delorean once its running, I can probably get at least 12k for that thing and the benz I'll try and squeeze 2500 out of for my slush fund aka pulley and exhaust for the mini.. but its a pipe dream really
