Welcome to the Salton Sea...

Yesterday I drove from Palm Springs to Brawley CA to check out a prospective job. I took the route 111, the 'scenic' route down along the northeastern shore of the Salton Sea... whoa... the best thing I can say about it is that it smells like dead fish. But when I got to the high-density cattle feed-lots near Niland... I would have rather had dead fish IN my car than that feed-lot smell... that was one of the worst things I've ever smelled.

Anyway, I anyone is interested, theres real estate for sale there starting @ $6k, but like everything else, the real estate office was boarded up.

Its still there, and its big, you cant see across it. It has a fascinating history and an uncertain future...

Isn't it contaminated with high levels of nitrates from the agricultural run offs, and possibly other toxins?
