Need help in setting up wireless network

Here is the situation:

I have a Dell Computer that runs Business Vista. It has wireless, obviously. I connect to the internet using my Cell Phone, Nokia E65, that I plug into my computer via USB and using Nokia Office Suite, I open the connection to the internet.

I have my sister in town, she has a MacBook. I open my wireless and let her have access to my computer, not sure if I am doing it right. But, she supposably connected to my wireless directly to my computer, the ad hoc option that was available for computer to computer connection.

Problem, she still cannot access the internet.

What I want is to be able to start up my computer and open my internet connection, and thru the wireless, let her access the internet on her computer thru mine.

Any ideas on how to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Iggy

Yes, but MUCH easier going from the Mac IMO. Configuring Vista's ICS on a wireless took years off my life last month, it wouldn't work and then all of the sudden with nobody doing anything it worked....I think it was a hardware issue but still

Perhaps.

Last time I was drunk, I found my computer to be utterly confusing and useless. Apparently I gave it to my room mate, as I could not figure out how to operate it...

Well, I have been trying, finally got it to work this morning, and now in the afternoon it does not work.

Any other input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

On another note, when I followed the instructions from the link above, when I use the ip address 192.168.0.1, it tells me another adapter is using it and it creates conflict, when I try the diagnose thing on the LAN connection it tells me that the IP address is invalid.

Any other address can work? What would it be?

Thanks

Plug cable modem into Airport. Turn off cable modem, Airport, and all computers. Turn back on starting with modem, allowing each to reboot in sequence.

Start the internet thingie on the Mac desktop.

Done.

Just to update and help anyone else. I finally got it to work. After days of trying different configurations and other wifi accesories, what I did was set up an Ad-Hoc, computer to computer network. I left this set up that it looks for the TCP/IP Automatically. On my internet modem, I hooked that up as normal then set that up to share internet.

On the Mac, I turned airport on, connected to the computer to computer network, left internet settings as normal, all IP automatic.

Then it worked. Why, I do not know, this was one of the first setups that I tried three days ago, but yesterday night, started from scratch, and tried this one again and it worked. I must have done something different the first time, I think it may have been the internet sharing. Not sure, but at least it works now.

Thanks for all the input.

Regards and Happy New Year!

It didn't work the first time because Mars is in retrograde. Glad you got it too work.
