USC wins Rose Bowl (again!)

USC Trojans beat up on PapaJo's Nittany Lions. The game was close for just one quarter, then the Trojans turned on the afterburners and it was bye-bye JoPa.

Big 10 turns another losing performance.

Pac-10 is 5-0 in bowl play!!!

Thanks. Although I am sorry we are not playing for the BCS title, going to the Rose Bowl is beginning to feel like going home.

Blah. Joe Paterno needs to retire. That one game they lost to Iowa he refused to allow sideline warmers. How dumb. I wish we had a bowl game in the midwest. Maybe Green Bay. That'll give us at least some kind of home field advantage.

Why do you think he needs to retire?

Does not wanting sideline warmers in the interest of toughing it out make sense to you? That's like the old "run for three hours with no water to train your ability to take the heat" method.

Yes, the Lions got a severe azz wuppin' yesterday.
Their secondary wasn't up to it. Then, it's much easier to have pro offenses that pro defenses in college. Seems most of the focus in college ball is on offense.

There are only a handful of schools that can sell themselves as stepping stones to the NFL, and for the past few years, USC's been at the top of the heap, imo. Even Big 10 homey Brett Musberger was crowing about all USC's pro draft picks of recent years.

Pete Carroll's got the best program around. Dynamic guy, great recruiter, great motivator. I saw a 60 minutes show of Carroll going out to gang turf and trying to influence young men. He wasn't succesful as a pro coach, but seems to have found his calling at SC.

If you're 18 yrs old, who's more likely to impress you? Pete Carroll or Joe Paterno?

.......'Course, EJ, it doesn't hurt that every bowl game you go to is a home game!

VA Tech whooped Cincinnati's butt in the Orange Bowl, too. My daughter is a Hokie, now, so I was happy.

You don't make sense calling for his retirement because of that issue. You should never run for three hours without water, that is a health and safety issue. Maybe he wanted the sideline warmers removed as a sort of disciplinary action or maybe he didn't want the players settling into a false sense of warmth when they should be mobile and keeping muscles warm and limber.

That issue has nothing to do with his ability to coach.

I agree with Kuan. I like papa joe but that decision seems pretty good evidence of poor judgement imho.

The big ten will always have trouble recruiting compared to usc. think about it....do you wanna go somewhere where it gets really cold? ...or do you wanna go where there are the legendary california girls and warm sunshine?

doh!
