Talk to me about pulmonary fibrosis.

Dad's been diagnosed with it and I'd like to know more. Sound off.

Co-worker had a lung transplant after several years of declining health. He's doing well.

My x-boss also had bi-lateral lung transplants from the condition and is doing very well.

my father had this ~~~ Dr. gave him 8 months to 1 year, he made it 1 year 6 months before his heart gave out at 85

on oxygen 24/7 and around a year had bumped the oxygen input to full blast ~~~ seemed OK as long as he didn't do anything, putting on socks had him gasping for breath , gave up driving after 10 months

hard to watch this decline, but the heart attack was quick and final

R.I.P. dad

Don't know what to say other than I am sorry and hope it is upper and not lower. My wife spends her days defending successors in interest to asbestos companies (I on occasion sue them). Has his doctor given an occupational exposure diagnosis? If so, pm me who he worked for and where and I can give you some info on who to call.

Not occupational. He was a smoker for 40+ years, quit in 1989.

The pulmonary issues were there before after his heart surgery, two years ago but have really manifested themselves in the last 3-5 months with significantly reduced capacity, etc. From what I've read, pretty typical IPF symptoms.
