Vista Disk - Where to get one?

I just got a new laptop, but it came with a TON of crapware on it. I want to wipe it and start from scratch with a nice clean install.

Does anybody know where I can get just a Vista 64 disk? I have the legal/valid key, I just need the disk.

BTW, in case you didn't know, the disk is completely legal to hand out. The product key is what's restricted and must be legal.

I have tried that several times...none of them worked properly.

piratebay.org should have a proper torrent.

Are you sure you cant just uninstall all the junk and/or stop the stuff from loading during start up?

Physically, you can only get about half of it off. Much of it is hidden and you can't access it. Also, most of it is running in the background and you cannot kill the startup through the various methods.

I got the torrents before from thepiratebay.org. Some of them didn't work at all, some of them didn't work after a few hours/days. It pretty much comes down to either getting a new disk (which I don't mind buying for a few bucks) or get a copy from a trusted friend.

I suppose that you can't get it from the manufacturer. That would be ideal, but then it would be too easy for you to remove all of their adware.

Any MSDN subscriber can download a copy. I would not get one from an untrusted source such as a peer-to-peer system. But note that the OEM installs often take different keys; your key may not work at all on a straight Microsoft install disk. I've seen it before.

Yep, I am an MSDN subscriber too.

Well, it sounds like either you are trying to download from dead trackers or maybe your firewall if preventing you from downloading at proper speed. You have to open a couple ports for it to work properly.

It comes down to I don't trust P2P. I did the torrent thing when I tried to fix my moms laptop, and it crashed on her just after she went home. I am not going to mess with that again.

I did reload my old laptop with a new disk and my oem key. I had to call Microsoft and do a code exchange, but it worked out fine.

I do have somebody helping me, so I think this might be figured out. Thanks guys.
