My first taste of Hendrix was in 1970, when I heard some bootlegged material one of the older guys in the nieghborhood swiped from his older brother who had just returned from California, where he saw Hendrix perform live.

If you have a decent stereo system and access to digitally re-mastered C.D.,listen to the guitar solo on 'Are you Experianced'..still gives me chill bumps..its like Jimi's axe was alive..on fire..and trying to get away from him.

That's funny, I did the same thing, whenever my parents were out of the house.
I am trying to recollect a rational motive for it, but the bottom line rule was, the 'louder the better".
Not much of a Hendrix person back then, but Pink Floyd, esp the scream "Careful with that Axe, Eugene" did it every time.

I think Hendrix' finest performance was documented during Monterey Pop Festival 1967, D.A. Pennebaker. That's were he sets the guitar on fire, btw.
