I have brand new Michelins on the 280CE. About a year ago I had a old tire go bad on vacation and I used the original 30 year old tire spare and drove it back home(2 hours) without a problem. I know, I know, I should have done it.

Yep, I never drive on tires older than 5 years...but I havn't checked the code I should!

My uncle was almost killed when the tread blew out on the front wheel of his motor home. It turns out the company that makes them buys the bus chasses in lots and they may sit around for 4 or 5 years before getting a body fitted. So his at the time 3 year old coach actualy had 8 year old tires on it.

Tires are good for 10 years if kept out of UV exposure. That video is very misleading. I have used the original spare from my 77 6.9 and it is a better tire than most stuff today.

There was a man I was going to buy a DeLorean from and he said when he got it, he was riding on original tires, mind you this is for a 1981 DeLorean. He drove all the way to Phoenix on those tires and he said it was just a real bumpy ride. But he made the 800 mile trip just fine.

Of course he changed the tires when he returned.

So they last longer in MI, where the sun never shines!

Mine are about 2.5 years old. I wear them out long before age would kill them.

303 Aerospace Protectant keeps UV-sensitive materials "like new" year after year.

1.5 years old. I have negative camber, and go thru tires every 2-3 years because of it.
