How much is my mercedes worth?

Hey all - my wife's uncle recently passed away and left us his 1983 380 SL. He put $10,000 into it (I have the receipts). It looks like this was basically to rebuild the engine and do general servicing. It has 131,262 miles on it and looks to be in great condition, but definitely not a 'show room' type condition that i've seen in some old cars. It comes with the removable hard top.

My wife and I just had a baby and we just aren't going to use it. Its taking up space and so we are going to get rid of it.

Here is my question - how much should I charge for this thing, and what is a fair price? I can't find a blue book value for it and comparable models I've seen online really range in price. Any advice on what I should offer or how I can get a good estimate on pricing. Perhaps I can go to a Mercedes auto shop?

Also - any suggestions on the best way to sell this car? I've had it on craigslist but no bites.

Here is the craigslist link so you can see photos and get better details.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Depends where you are. Around here they go for $2000-$8000 depending on condition.

It looks "a little tired" inside and out in the photos you posted.....suspect $10K might be 50% high.

The car is worth how ever much someone is willing to pay. Varies on loacation and if the person in head over feet for the car like the collector that purchased my 300SD they will top $ for it.

$4kish maybe.

Whats going to hurt it is the mileage, the condition is fair, and its the small motor. Mint 560SL's are the R107's that will bring good money.

Plus this market sucks for selling stuff.

I can't tell from the pics whether the interior is very worn or just really dirty. If it's the latter, take some time to clean it up and that will help it sell.

+1, spend a couple hunderd on a good detail and you'll get a few grand more than if you don't.
