Three score and ten are given to man,
yet ours is a far briefer span. So, though I give you all my heart, The time will come when we must part. But all around you, you shall see, creatures that speak to you of me; a wounded cat, a hunted thing, A sparrow with a broken wing ... Pity - and help (I know you will) And somehow, I will be with you still; And I shall know, although I'm gone, The love I gave you lingers on. |
When I lost my precious cat "Annabelle" to feline leukemia one year ago (this coming Sunday), a friend sent me this poem:
May I Go Now? May I go now? Do you think the time is right? May I say goodbye to pain filled days and endless lonely nights? I've lived my life and done my best, an example tried to be. So can I take that step beyond and set my spirit free? I didn't want to go at first, I fought with all my might. But something seems to draw me now to a warm and loving light. I want to go I really do. It's difficult to stay. But I will try as best I can to live just one more day. To give you time to care for me and share your love and fears. I know you're sad and afraid, because I see your tears. I'll not be far, I promise that, and hope you'll always know that my spirit will be close to you wherever you may go. Thank you so for loving me. You know I love you too, that's why it's hard to say goodbye and end this life with you. So hold me now just one more time and let me hear you say, because you care so much for me, you'll let me go today. - Written for a beloved pet & friend, by Susan A. Jackson I still feel it today. Sorry for your loss, Kevin. |
The Nugness and I will have a 30 pack of Budweiser and some PORK RIBS in Sam's memory.
Seriously I lost a long time pet about 11 years ago, due to the neighbor murdering him. I went right out and got another sharpei and named him The Nugness. We have had him for 10 years. I suggest you in sam's memory go get another dog just like him. Take care PP. |
Here's to your beloved friend (apologies, its Macallan), you have my condolences. Wishing you and family the best.

Sorry to hear that, pp. What a cute mug. How lucky for him (and you!) that you gave him a chance, and all those good years. It's hard to lose any pet, but there are always certain pets in life that really seem to take a part of you with them when they go ... but I guess the solace is that they leave a part of themselves with you that you have forever. I hate to think of losing my cat ... he's the best cat I've ever met, and in many ways is my truest friend in the world.
BC, that poem made me cry at work.:( |

the monk who said to a Master, "Has a dog Buddha-nature too?" The Master replied, "Wuff" —which is what the dog himself would have said. ~Gilbert Highet
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue. ~Anonymous Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies, quite unlike people, who are incapable of pure love and always have to mix love and hate. ~Sigmund Freud You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, "Wow, you're right! I never would have thought of that!" ~Dave Berry If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them. ~Phil Pastoret Ever consider what our dogs must think of us? I mean, here we come back from the grocery store with the most amazing haul—chicken, pork, half a cow. They must think we're the greatest hunters on earth! ~Anne Tyler There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face. ~Ben Williams |
Sorry to hear your loss, lossing animals is very hard.

Sorry for your loss. We should all sniff a little butt tonight in his honor.

THE BEST PLACE TO BURY A DOG
"There is one best place to bury a dog. "If you bury him in this spot, he will come to you when you call - come to you over the grim, dim frontier of death, and down the well-remembered path, and to your side again. "And though you call a dozen living dogs to heel, they shall not growl at him, nor resent his coming, for he belongs there. "People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear no whimper, people who may never really have had a dog. Smile at them, for you shall know something that is hidden from them, and which is well worth the knowing. ..." --- Ben Hur Lampman --- from the Portland Oregonian Sept. 11, 1925 |
Sorry to hear that Kevin,
I met Sam last summer, one tough little dog and not to mention helluva' hunter. He caught that lizard-thing in the back yard thanks to his skill and unbelievable persistence. Here's to you Sammy! |
I'm so sorry for your loss. My wife and I are dog rescuers as well, I know you've done a great service and bettered the life of a loyal creature. RIP Sam.
