Now it is, I agree.

However, earlier it perhaps was not. It was because of public outrage that it is now a non-issue, and hopefully will remain so for a long time.

Certainly not because of outrage on this forum. No one gives a crap about what anyone here says. I suspect Obama nixed it primarily because of his own beliefs whatever those may be. IMO fuel taxes are preferable to mileage taxes as long as most of our transpiration runs on taxable fuels. My main objection to a mileage tax would be that it removes the incentive to drive a fuel-efficient vehicle. If and when most of our cars are electric, I'd be more OK with a mileage tax, but I'd still prefer a tax on electricity rather than on mileage.

Yeah it will be like the I95 bridge in West Haven...horrible over budget, and horrible currupt. Plus it takes a decade to do a 1 year project.

What do you nay sayers propose? That our highways just continue to deteriorate? Raise fuel taxes while the public moves to electric cars?
here's what I propose - not gps tracking my every movement. Try it and I'll pull the device off as soon as you install it.

Or I-84... ridiculously over budget, even more insanely corrupt, took them years to finish it....and they built it wrong and so now they have to redo it....

Pure BS.

As an individual bill...none of the crap ever does...but if BURIED in a budget bill...**TAH! DAH!***

Bend over and latch onto those ankles!

Your representative will say something like "I didn't have time to read the whole budget over before I voted on it!" -or- "I was against it before I voted on it and I'm still against it...but Que Sera, Sera..."

Let your representative know YOU KNOW that someone, somewhere, is proposing this crap...and if it does pass, you'll hold him, and his office, personally responsible for giving you the long stick in the short hole.

Then, be a man and follow through...

Remember, if we don't care, why should they?

I have no idea what you are ranting about.
It's impossible to bury a bill requiring drivers to carry around a GPS.

How is it impossible?? It could have been placed int he stimulus bill, and nobody would have known until after the vote...Barry loves to create drama and panic to confuse you on the facts.

It's alot like watching his left and not knowing what his right hand is doing.

I have written to congresspersons and senators after being compelled by various views on this forum. I suggest if anyone feels strongly about something, to do the same. A website like this won't sway issues by itself but it can provide a motivating factor to take action.

Right. I was not trying to suggest that the thread here was any sort of motivation.

But multiply this thread by, oh, a few hundred thousand, and then by the viewers of each thread, which is over 600 for this one, and some of those viewers will contact their overlords.

For now, no because as dieseladdict says, it kills the incentive for fuel efficient cars.

I prefer liberal to tough guy.
