Because their price is more flexible than a new car. IE they will take more of a depreciation hit.

I have been noticing this is well, good used trucks seem to be getting close to the price of the new ones.

Might just have to get myself an 09 F150 insted of an 07.

I was being sarcastic...it's in my DNA to do so.

Only twice in my life have I ever bought a car "new". 1996 Neon, special ordered the way I wanted it, and a 2001 Durango ordered special as well. Other than that, I have always owned used cars...it's economical that way!

R/T engine, ACR suspension with none of the badges and stripes. Looked like a granny car...after a little tuning, I could take ricers all day long. I loved it, but so did the wife's boyfriend...that's why she's my Ex now!

Some used cars are downright scary to buy. Used Mercedes are easy, they hold up pretty well and people usualy take good care of them. Finding a good example of any model can be done with a bit of work.

Now trucks are a totaly different market...I just looked at a 2008 F150 with under 8k miles on it...the owner must have been a chain smoker...and the interior was a mess even after the dealer detailed it. I have no idea how someone can beat a vehical that badly in only 8k miles. Used trucks are like used equipment, buyer beware!

Yeah how will you ever know in buying a used truck whether the previous owner used it to tow just a bit beyond the maximum rating of the truck, and if they pushed it extra hard up hills with that huge load....

Buying a used pickup sounds like a scary proposition.

Yep, its only slightly better than looking at used equipment.

You can find good ones, but they require some searching. I'd prefer new, but I don't know if I want to spend the $16k or so a new one goes for in this economy. If the economy was looking even slightly better, not much just slightly and I could sell houses I would just say F it and order exactly what I want from Ford. Whats a few extra grand spread out over 10 years if your making good money.

Thats a fantastically useless gas hog. 14mpg on the best of days, and a bed to short to carry plywood or rock in.

You can pickup an 09 Ram 1500 with a 6 for like $11k.

You need to come out here to go car shopping.
