Must be nice to afford new tires. I have steel belts hanging out of the front tires of my MB. I have fairly new tires on my old cars and still decent Michelins on my Lexus, so the Mercedes mostly just sets there, because it needs an alignment badly as well.

With a $350 repair bill coming up on the Lexus this weekend (fan bracket bearing went out), its set me back... again.

I see! Well, I will have to break down and buy new ones within the next 3-4 weeks and get an alignment. I know it will make a huge difference. The tires on this MB are also cracked and appear to be dry-rotted.

I had a screw in the tire of my Lexus about 3 months ago... they plugged it, but it was still discouraging since they were only 1/2 worn and I paid a pretty penny for these too.

The contractors are paid by the tire companies, repair shops, fix-a-flat manufacturers, and roadside service agencies to leave nails and screws on the roads. That way, the tire companies will always make money selling replacement tires, as will the repair shops who sell new tires and make a profit from repairing damaged tires, so will the O'Reilly where you get that can of fix-a-flat to limp to the repair shop, and the roadside service agencies who'll replace your flat for a slight charge.

Anyone wonder why the Tweel isn't mainstream by now?

In other words...

Two things to stop the "tweel", well other than downright ugly and stupid looking, are cattle guards and railroad tracks.

I know the feeling, I put a new high performance rear tire on my motorcycle. Took it out for a shake down run. Next day it was flat with a roofing nail. You dont plug a motorcyle tire and go 100+ mph.
