SEC Doors

I've been driving a 1990 560SEC on and off for a while and noticed both the doors don't shut very well. Car only has 68k miles and is in good shape. Doors don't appear to be sagging, what gives?? Never did this on my SEL...

The pass door doesn't shut all the way and the driver's does take a lot of effort. Maybe I need to work out more.

Are the shut lines even on all three sides? No "B" pillar, which makes things interesting if the car was improperly positioned on a lift. Any evidence of past front-end damage that might have required replacement of the front clip and/or damage to the "A" pillar area?

Latch misalignment?

I don't think it was smacked up, perhaps it's the latch. The driver's door was fine 3 weeks ago, but is now more of a challenge to properly shut.

my driver door would not shut without slamming. I bought some new repop latch parts that fit on the pillar because the little plastic pieces were missing that guide it in. it was no better. I was sure the door must be bent or something, it was like that from the day I bought it. Then I spotted a set of MB ones on a car in the PNP, they looked brand new, so I bought them and put one on my driver door, wow what a difference. It latches smooth as silk. I would suggest getting a driver one from MB and not a repop one. Mine is a w123, but I would think it is a similar situation. If you are in a cold area cold does funny things to moving parts, maybe just one cold door cycle too many for your latch.

Coupe doors are longer than sedan doors, so I would think they would also be more prone to sagging with age.
