Toyota Previas

My indy and one of his closest friends has fallen for them recently. Between the two of them, they own at least 6. They also own about the same number of Porsche 928s.

Toyota actually put a Supercharger and intercooler in them putting out 160hp, and the all-trac system. Really neat color options too. The one I took a spin in was this color, supercharged, and had the alltrac system.

I have to say I'm a little impressed with them myself. It has a very strange design, but drive nicely. I don't understand why they need so many of them, but I guess I have no room to talk either.

Heresey!

AND "Goodwrench" mechanic's mats in the floor!

Ya Know Toyota has just about gotten this whole Auto Mobile thing down
Perfectly.

I suspect a lot of us will have the opportunity to own a Toyota 4WD with
a Diesel or Hybrid Diesel before Mercedes brings one over from the Opposite
Direction.

My parents had one of those when we were growing up. It got totalled when some dumb lady ran a red light. They loved it because they could separate us by row when we were being PITAs.

If I could find a decent one for a good price I would not hesitate to own one. Very handy. I'd use it in the winter.

They're all over the place for 2-4 grand. This one is nice, but I'd want leather and the dual sunroofs.

Here we go...

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/1052310565.html

They're kind of like cheap Land Cruisers, only with less capability and attractiveness. Alot cheaper, too.

A black one with blacked out lower cladding, lowered, with alloy wheels would look sharp.

I always liked them. I think they were a "transition" vehicle between the original "Townace" van (which I also thought was cool) and the later Siena's.

Townace:

On a side note, a Previa can bee seen in the Schwarzenegger movie "Last Action Hero" chasing Arnold and the kid through the aqueducts before finally leavinig the ground and ultimately exploding.

See it here!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p5b0tM4irY

The Previa chase starts at 3:25.

Me too, I liked the "cabover" feel when driving it. Like the old VW busses. I looked at a 4WD one before we bought our Grand Caravan but the Mrs. wasn't keen on its looks so I relented. She had to drive it.

Horrible ugly, NFW could I ever buy a van of any sort.

I'd buy another VW before a van.

We had one in 1990? It was "the egg" for obvious descriptive reasons. Our was N/A and it was a little weak on power but it handled well in water with a low center of gravity despite it's large cross section.

The 18-19 year old supercharged Previas could be heard on the freeways in LA (cause you need to cram your 17 family members in) with their worn out grinding screaming superchargers.....WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

They seem to have quite a Following amongst Central American immigrant laborers.

One can count at least 10-12 well dented and ratty looking examples in Huntington Station any day of the week.

I'm hoping to broaden my pallet after finishing the Defiant, and move on to some other make of vehicle for the next project.

I've wanted one of these since seeing Problem Child as a kid, and have been secretly shopping for many years. I've come close a few times, but something always happens. The craving has come back with a vengance about a month ago.

I know, I know, they're garbage mechanically, rarely making it past 150k without a rebuild. That is, if they make it that long before it rusts apart. My parents had one that caught fire before I was born.

I STILL want one; I'm drawn to it. I must be a masochist.
