Did anybody catch Monday night's "Top Gear"

Did you see the economy and time race from Basel Switzerland to Blackpool in the UK?

How come we can't have cars that average 60+ MPG on the highway? I would even take the twin turbo Jaguar that gave JC 49mpg at 80 mph.

If you haven't seen it, check it out this Saturday at 6pm on BBC America!

Oh and by the way, they test drive a Pagani Zonda Roadster F and a Bugatti Veyron -- talk about FAST!

I would love to have all three. The Polo efficiency is simply amazing.

Jeremy didn't average 80mph the entire time, he just went above a reasonable speed in his typical style.

Correct, but the Jag was doing 80 when he showed the Average economy at 49.5 mpg! Also remember he had the A/C , seat heater, radio, etc on and he made it all the way from Basel to Blackpool!

The Polo achieved almost 80mpg! astounding!

Errr, but aren't those English MPGs, based on 5qts/gallon? Adjust mileage expectations downward accordingly.

I do not read German but I was puttering around Ebay.DE and found this.

A AMG C30 Diesel? Is this for real? The engine cover looks legit. I want that stuff over here. It even loks like it has a engine build plate on the intake.

49 miles per imperial gallon, right? Still impressive... Actually 40 - 41 US mpg.
