The Economy, or Marxism, Job #1 with the new administration?

I don't understand why the daily cap and trade about anything but the economy continues out of Washington D.C.

The administration has a recession within a recession going. A -20% drop in the stock market equals a bonafide recession. As the economy continues to worsen, and the stock market is down -20% since inauguration day, why isn't the government doing something about it?

Why has the leadership deserted the American people? All the administration is doing about the economy is a daily drumming-up of anti-business / corporation brainwashing, depicting anyone that makes money as greedy. Anyone that criticizes Barack Hussein Obama will soon be charged with McCarthyism. Are we headed for Marxism from the current administration, under the code name of Obamanomics?

Obama unleashed and sanctioned his attack dogs Carrville and Bagala in the media this last week. I see the Marxist stamp on Obama's tactic of spreading hatred for American business. Unbelievable unemployment figures not seen in 25 years are now reality. This is Obama's Great Depression.

This country has allways been a mix of socialism and capitolism.

The pendlum was forced way to far to the capitolism side for the last 8 years and we are all suffering for it.

Now we have to center the pendlum.

And listen to the brainwashed lemmings chant pro capitolism bullshiest at us.

If you dont like the social side of the US then dont...

Drive on the roads.
Call the police or fire departments.
Drink city water, or flush your toilets.
Put your garbage out to be collected.
Use the library
Send you kids to school
Rely on the military, or city, county, or federal government.
Collect your social security.

Or you will become one of those evil commie socialists.

----------------------

Please refrain from your chanting while the socialist side is being forced to fix the mess the capitolists created.

And might I suggest that you change the TV station you are watching.
The brainwashing may become permanant if you dont.

Wait until the propaganda machine really takes off...

This vilification of capitalism has not been seen since early in the FDR administration. The more the rhetoric flies, the more capital is going to dry up. This will lead to the complete crash of what is left of the economy. Ad to this the additional taxes on capital and energy we are going to face plus the loss of the mortgage interest deduction and ...

We will all be celebrating the success of the five year plan, from our collectivized housing, by the light of a candle ,while wearing our two left shoes...

However we will have plenty of rotten potatoes to eat and vodka to drink:D

I also love all the talk about roads, schools, and the military being socialist institutions. Gee, I guess they did not exist until the Paris Commune, right? Government does have a role to protect the borders and to enable commerce, but not to wipe out capital and not to do social engineering which does not work.

Any fool could see that the downward swing would continue after the election. He has been in office less than two months, do you think he should have turned it around already?

Tom,
I appears that he is actually encouraging the demise of Wall Strret. A positive word from him instead of continual negatives might help the market.
Is it possible that he wants the crisisw to deepen so that it gives more of the "opportunity" that made his Chief of Staff so gleeful?

Just think how great everything would be if McCain had won. He and the House GOP leaders really have this stuff all figured out
Quote:

TELL US WHAT?.... On "Fox News Sunday," Chris Wallace asked John McCain how he thinks President Obama is doing so far. The Arizona Republican said he thinks the president is "working very hard," and has "the support of the majority" of the country, but is making a "serious mistake" with his budget. No big surprise.

But then, there was this odd exchange:

Wallace: You ever feel like saying "I told you so"?

McCain: Oh, I'm sure that would be pleasant feeling, but the point is we're in such a severe crisis....

I have no idea what the question even means. McCain might be tempted to say, "I told you so" to the nation? And why would he do that, exactly?

Presumably he could remind us of the time he told us the fundamentals of the economy are strong. Or perhaps he could taunt us by reminding us his recommended spending freeze as a response to the economic crisis.

Even by Fox News standards, Wallace's question is absurd. It presupposes that, looking back at the presidential campaign, McCain was right about ... something. It's not clear what.

DANGEROUSLY CONFUSED.... The House Republican leaders' pre-recession mindset is so overwhelming, their ignorance isn't just embarrassing, it's frightening.

House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio, appearing after Orszag on "Face the Nation," replied: "American families are tightening their belt, but they don't see government tightening its belt. And I think we can get through this year and lead by example, and show the American people that the government can go on a diet as well." [...]

On CNN, House Republican Whip Eric Cantor of Virginia said: "Director Orszag and others say, look, we've inherited these trillions dollars of deficits. Well, if you've got a situation like that, how in the world should you be going and make it worse? Families are not doing that."

I know there are people who take these guys seriously. I just don't know why. When it comes to economic policy, two of the top Republican policymakers in the federal government are not only in flat-earth territory, they can't imagine why anyone would have the audacity to think the planet is round.

In case there's any lingering confusion here, publius recently explained: "The micro-considerations of an individual family or business has nothing much to do with what governments need to do to get the larger economy moving again. Even worse, it's often affirmatively harmful to adopt microeconomic solutions to macroeconomic problems."

It's only fair to describe Boehner's and Cantor's policy prescription, to borrow David Brooks' word, as insane. It's my sincere hope that the House Minority Leader and Minority Whip know full well what they're saying is ridiculous, because given a choice, I'd much prefer shameless dishonesty to abject stupidity.

It was, by the way, nice to see OMB Director Peter Orszag pushing back a bit on the Sunday shows.

"I would urge you to invite the Republicans on this show and ask for their specifics, and then compare them head-to-head," Orszag told John King, anchor of CNN's "State of the Union."

"Because we are proposing a change in course in which we are not only fiscally responsible, but we are investing in education, we are investing in energy, and we're investing in health care."

Orszag also declared: "We've been down a path that has not been working. We're proposing a change in course. And with regard to the criticisms, it's almost like, as Ronald Reagan said, 'there they go again.'"

I don't know whether Obama is on the right track, but I do know that many of his critics on the Hill are putzes.

Nice argument but the fact is that we paid into them so we can collect. When the relieve us of those payments and refund the payments with interest, your argument will make sense.

kerry 03-09-2009 10:55 AM

You need to explain how transferring public money to capitalist corporations is Marxist in any sense of the word.

A concise summary of Marx's argument that the working class has an equal right to social goods as the owning class.

You know so little about what you are saying that you have not formed a question
that can be answered.

I have no idea what point you are trying to make.

No one is vilifying capitolism so far in this thread.
I said this country has allways been a mix of socialism and capitolism.
And that we were pushed to far into the capitolism side, and we suffer for it.

I have no idea what the paris commune is.
But I dont think you understand what a social program iss.

Can you explain how you think schools, roads, military, etc.. are not social programs ?

Probably because there is no question. Just a statement.

The point is clear. You cannot ask people not to use services they have been paying into unless you refund them their money that they have put into it and not take any more. IOW, if you want me not to collect SS, give me back the money you forced me to contribute to it. Your other choice is to let me collect what I put in. It is pretty simple really. Think of a bank account that I have been depositing money into. If I have a dispute with the bank, you can't ask me to walk away unless you close my account and refund the money.
