I think were going to tint the front windows on the G. I think it will tie the car together better.

Long ago on this board there was a thread about a UV blocking clear tint for windsheilds.

Do some of these films affect dashtop mounted GPS units?

My E300 came from Tx with fairly dark tint on side and rear windows.

CHP didn't like it one bit and I had a fix it ticket within a month.

Peeled it off of front door windows and is MUCH easier to turn left at night. Wouldn't put it back even if was legal.

Just go with a 35% on the fronts and you will be fine. Thats what is on the front of all my parents cars and they have had no issues for 5 years now. It really has to do with what color the interior is. If you have a dark interior then the tint will look darker. 35 to 40% are probably your best choice, 35% being darker. As long as the fronts are lighter then the backs then you really dont have to worry about anything as long as its impossible to see inside the front.

When I got the Impala SS from Florida the front windows were tinted dark. I never had a problem with the police. I had the cops pace me a few times, but never pull me over. One time we were both doing 80! The local corner boys in Harlem thought it WAS a cop car and also left me alone. I used to bring my girlfriend back to her apartment and the guys would always be real respectful. "Good evening Detectives." "You guys staying out of trouble, right?"

We want to get the front windows tinted on the drug dealer mobile. I think if we tint it, we may get the reputation of being drug dealers.

Its black/black so any tint on the front will more than likely be dark.

My 300E is tinted all around and I don't have any police trouble. In CA it's a must in the summer.

Sacramento got pretty hot last summer. I thought the rule of thumb was that you had to be able to detect movement from a person in the vehicle.

My wagon windows are tinted up front. A G is probably a little more conspicuous than an old w123 wagon, especially with tint; just a guess. Cops don't bother me; but I'm sure they'd write me up if pulled over for other reasons, etc.

Just drop the windows when you see an officer. They pull you over so they can see who's in there and what they're hiding.

I don't get pulled over in my tinted TD.

My old all-black '98 Acura CL had 18" wheels, low profile tires, and limo tint. We were told by state troopers to expect being pulled over since we had a "thug mobile". I heard this from different troopers at separate pull overs.

I argued with CHP regarding my tint. Didn't win.

CA Veh code states that front door windows and windshield can NOT be modified from factory spec. Windows behind the drivers head can be modified.

Back in the early days of tint, my VW had limo tint all the way around except for the windshield. Waaaay too dark looking back now, as I have trouble seeing at night now. It was difficult back then trying to avoid curbs and medians at dusk when negotiating turns.

Got away with dark tint in Illinois even though cops frowned upon it, but in Missouri, the car would fail inspection. I had to remove the front window tint on the inspection station site before he let the car pass.
