It's Official: We're Slumlords!

In spite of a minor morning scare (gas company reported "water gushing from the boiler in the basement" when their tech went to to the gas on - 4 days ago!?! - turns out it is just a blown pressure relief valve on the not-connected-to-anything boiler in the basement) Darling Wife and I spent the afternoon signing on the dotted line to buy The Cottage for Ma and Ed.

So the two of us, along with her twin brother, now own an 1860 row house in downtown Frederick that we'll be moving Ma & Ed into as soon as possible. Well, me and Darling Wife will be moving them since twin brother is back on a boat

Anybody know a good (cheap) plumber (cheap) in Frederick who can run water up and drains down for a quick upstairs bathroom install?

Economy must be really bad if you're selling your plumbing skills for $25 an hour.

Carleton, if you actually are serious (and not highly allergic to critters - house mates include a crazy dog and 7 cats), send me a PM. We've got room, food, and know where the liquor store and the proper pub in town are.......

We're looking to get the plumbing cut in quick, since everything else upstairs sorta builds from there.

Heading over today after work to change the locks (who knows how many realtors made key copies) and stare at the place one last time before we start tearing out drop ceilings and hauling out dead appliances tomorrow.

Swamp, yeah congrats are the proper direction for sentiments to lean. In spite of the work involved, this move will make it much easier (and cheaper) to keep Ma & Ed afloat in the coming months/years.

Since this seems to be working as a job posting thread....... anybody wanna have a moving party? Gotta pack 4000 square feet of 'stuff' that is currently crammed into an 1800 square foot three floor townhouse, then disperse it to The (1000 square foot) Cottage for Ma and Ed or our barn.......
