Windows Vista

We all know the problems Vista has created as Microsoft holds us hostage with their lousy OP. It reminds me a little of ME. Has anyone ever used this product?

Most of those programs are scams. You're better off reading some articles put together by nerds where you can do some step by step optimizations yourself. And save the $$....IMHO all those programs do is slow down the computer or mess things up.

Not worth it.

This is pretty much what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on a good thing. I know a couple of Russian computer guys who I am going to ask to downgrade my Vista OP to XP and have done with it. I'm afraid to format on my own.

I agree, most of these program are not worth it.
Some XP registry programs can do more damage than they fix.

One I like, it even helps with spyware, is Advanced SystemCare, it's free does a decent jobs cleaning etc. Don't know if they have a Vista version.

Only had one issue, used it on my wifes computer. Used one of it's recommendations, something about font smoothing. Display looked bad after that, fired it up hit the backout previous.

Bang back to the way it was.

They'll "Fix" Vista about the time Your Great,Great Grandchildren would have
use for it...Only by then there will be a better OS available (That Ain't MS).
Oh, Wait... There already is a Better OS available...

MS is like watching paint dry...Same,Same Every time.Zero Learning Curve.

Well I'll disagree it will take that long to fix it. Technically Windows 7, and even Vista have been given pretty good marks from a technology standpoint. But give MS time, they could screw it up and you'll be right.

Paint dry, no, lots of changes in Vista and Win7 interfaces. BUT change for the better, change to improve NO WAY Change for the sake of Change.

IMHO MS is changing like crazy, and that is their problem. They are trying to be the best at everything, and aren't succeding at any.
Fighting GOOG in search, going into Cloud computing, Hotmail, MSN, Games ... all things well outside of their core ability.
Despite their critics, Windows got to where it is for a reason, SQL Server and Exchange got to where they are for a reason, Office did too.

Now stop adding Bells and Whistles to them that few want and even fewer need, concentrate on making them good solid products that are easy to use.

ie when 1-2-3 was a reasonable competitor to Excel, Lotus would come out we have 130 functions. MS would come out we have 140, Lotus we have 150, ms we have 160 ........
Yet the reality was 90% of the users used maybe a low single digit % of those, and needed maybe a high SINGLE digit % of those.

Then they have their products that really are good (good, not excelent) and ahead of the game. Windows Mobile, I've used it for 7 years, everything the iPhone can finally do now and Much More 7 years ago. Yet only the techies hear about it. OK, less the Kool touch screen interface, but I'm into function not style.
And pretty much everything the Crackberrys offer and for less too.

And Sorry, Linux just can't get there on the desktop. It's a good product yes, but the average user can't install and set it up.
As I keep repeating, THERE ARE TOO MANY DISTROs, EACH WITH IT's OWN QUIRKS AND ISSUE's. IF THESE GUYS WOULD GET TOGETHER AND STANDARDIZE THEY COULD GIVE MS A PROBLEM.
They are but so slowly, by comparison paint drying it wild and exciting. These are Nerds (I'm one) and they all believe their whistle is better, so they won't give in.

X2

After a few years, it does slow down quite a bit.........never found a permanent solution to that other than an OS reinstall.........going to do it very soon on the old machine.
