Would you have done what my friend just did? He bought a 1994 Mercedes C220 with 220,000 miles on it. Ok fine. Its in good shape, some rust, electricals dont work(AC,windows,seats,ect). It needs tires and the check engine light is on and starts an runs ok(idles hard thoue). He bought it of this 18 year old girl who says her reason for selling it is because "She is a poor College student" Thats a legitimate reason considering education is high and the economy is bad. My friend purchased this little soon to be nightmare or $3,000 and said he felt sorry for her and thats why he bought the car from her. I think he over paid and is in for a real nightmare considering it has no books or records of any kind. Whould you have done this? 1994 C220 220,000 Miles for $3,000?

If you ask my opinion, "And You Didn't" If it didn't hurt me financially and it helped the poor girl to pay her college bills. Yes I would have bought it.

I picked up my 95 C220 for $3k with a stack of records. It had its engine rebuilt, and a factory trans put in.

Its a money pit. Good luck with it.

Luckly Mercedes makes a pretty solid drive train. So if she just fixe's what has to be to keep it going it should run for quite a long time. Well at 220k miles its probably due for a trans rebuild...

Know how many "poor college students" I have met at the strip bar? It is a ploy to part him from his money. Some of the girls at the Chicken Ranch and Sheri's Ranch are also poor college students. But for the right fee, they will be whomever I want them to be.

Sounds like the voice of experience!
Most of the girls I met (past tense - my shop used to be 50' from the front door of The Bus Stop - strip club in Boulder) were working their way through school. Musta been on the same 8 year plan I was.

I can believe it, but I wouldn't have done it.

I think I'd say "I'm not buying a car from a hooker." And I would leave.

$3,000 for that car though....yikes. I only paid $3250 for my 300E, with no rust, and its very nice! I only had to do "typical M103 car" maintenance to it, and its been great.

I agree with the above comments that its an *extreme* money pit.
