Awesome Week: Part one

Well, today was frign awesome. I woke up at 6 am to head down to sebring,fl to help out with the Ferrari Challenge race stuff, today was like a practice/track day for the drivers. With 18 challenge cars and like 20 other F cars, porsches, a Pagani, some vintage porsches, a lambo and some BMW's(no tri stars on the paddock) it was pretty cool. I'll post some pics later and a vid.

but I pretty much spent the first two hours helping check in drivers and have them sign waivers. The rest of the time was spent checking out cars, talking to people, having a sweet lunch oh.. and getting rides in F cars

chyeaaaa boy.

One of the drivers had a spare nomex suit and helmet and said put em on and strap on in... Sweeeeettttt.. I got to ride and experience the same track that they use for the 24 hours, well probably not the same route but hey, its sebring.

The corners were awesome after the car was warmed up and maaaan I have never cornered like I did today, the straights were crazy. Allen put the hammer down after I gave the thumbs up after the warm up if I was still good to go.. My god, that was a billion times more exciting than anything I have ever done..

pics and vid later, I'm going back tomorrow and I'll see if I can score a vid while in another car if I can.

I was texting justin before I got in the car and told him that if I dont make it out a live that I said.."bye to the forum" lol

oh, and the SDL is for sale.. Don wants at least an SEC now.

(maybe jk)

Ahh I can't wait until I can afford a $300k car to blast around the track with. I bet it would be fun!

Need to sell more houses.

Want some cheap and admittedly avuncular advice Joe?
Cultivate,flatter and help these people.
Volunteer if you must.
That's how I got a foothold in the antique sportscar field and I can plainly see where your interests lie.

Enthusiasm tempered with patience served me well and I have no doubt that the same will happen to you.

You see, owners of expensive sportscars of whatever vintage are accustomed to interact with familiar faces, people they have seen and can trust.
I got my foot in the door by volunteering to lube chassis and shim bearings.

You love fast cars, run with it,time and love permitting.

Oh yeah, I helped out where I could, handing tools to the Ferrari mechanics, getting water for the drivers, talking with anyone, talking cars, having lunch at the track.. all the fun stuff. My friend that invited me to his super bowl party got me the volunteer thing there since they needed an extra hand.. I like helping out since it does get me to do some pretty cool things and meet cool people.

Like the Ferrari I followed to the track and ended up getting lost with.. Those guys were pretty cool.

But, I know you guy are drooling lol.. so here are some pics from today

me getting into the car

oh look, a Lambo

The orange GT3 RS spun out in front of use while we were on the track, Allen said "Damn Porsche's" as we slowly went by.

Don’t take us too seriously here.
We’re just a bunch of aviation advocate nuts.
Plug’n when we can.

That does look like a bunch of fun. Keep it up and have a blast.

Also – What Carleton said in #3 is dead on. X2 for sure.

It’s a “who ya know” world out there.

Cheers -

Anyway Joe,at your age you never know what direction your life will lead,so long as you enjoy yourself and make money, and more importantly...friends.

I have wanted a F355 for a long time but I would take a helicopter over a F355 becuase it can go places the car can't.

Good luck to you and your adventure.
Put your mind to it, and it’s yours.
Start small and in time, the sky's (oops...make that: the track's) the limit.

I’d only add that not only is it a “who ya know” world. It’s also a very small one. Never burn bridges.

(How about a PM on how your flying is coming along. DJ and Shelby just mentioned you the other day, in fact.)
