Anyone own a 700cc 1985 Yamaha Virago?

I'm looking at this guy, and seriously thinking about buying it(If it passes a compression test)

Does anyone have experience with these bikes? Specifically any major failure points or carburetor nightmares?

I have a 750, with all of its parts still attached. that only needs a front fork seal replacement.

Aside from some of the challenges visible the photo the starter clutch has been said to be a 'soft spot' and when it fails can be a bit of hassle to repair/replace. There used to be a Virago Owners forum, maybe Google can find it for you.

About 15 yrs ago I owned a Virago 750. It was from the early 80's. It had less than 1k miles on it and I bought it for $1000 so your example looks a little pricey by comparison. I had to replace the fork seals and a side cover. Original owner got hit and broke his leg making a left turn in the first couple of weeks of ownership. Never got the courage to ride again. I could never get mine to consistently cold start on both cylinders. Eventually both would kick in, but it was irritating. Apart from that I liked the bike. Sold it to turn to sailing.

I find that quite familiar and somehow familiar, since it reminds me of my Ducati. Now that was a cold-blooded bike!
