I'm not a lawyer, but I did read a rather lengthy book on a libel case involving the New York Times during the civil rights movement. What I learned is that libel cases in the United States are extremely difficult to prove and almost always end up being won by the defendant.

i would have thought mr. diamond a far better researcher than mr.churchill; must say i am shocked.
(for the record, i think mr.churchill is a poor researcher, and while i agree with his politics, i think he comes across as the "jerry springer" of academia. always thought mr.diamond more of a true scholar?)
