Pontiacs are death traps, pretty much every accident you hear about involving one the person either died or is in "critical condition", then dies a few days later. I've ridden in a few, they're tin cans of doom. Good riddance. Even low end kia's feel more solid!

Can't say I agree with that. Pontiac is mostly a badge and trim package for Chevrolet. What could possibly make them more or less dangerous than the same car with a different emblem?

Buy any bottom of the line vehicle and you are getting into a casket with wheels IMHO.

Ok, pontiacs are the chevy death traps with a different trim package. Its a mobile casket, but in style.

The only current Pontiac I even remotely like is the Solstice, and if I were going to buy that type of car I'd probably just get a Miata anyway. Even from the muscle era I like the Buicks and Oldsmobiles better.

Pontiac just like the rest of GM just cannot market their cars properly. GO back to the 1990s and the Chevy Impala SS. It was a great car well built and FAST. In fact it was compared favorably to the BMW 7series. I had one and I loved it. However bu not advertising it at all, it only sold a few copies ad was pulled. Go back further and you can see the same thing happen to the Fiero. I have a friend who is alive today due to the cage construction of the Fiero. No advertising and it failed. Look again at the latest GTO. No advertising and the car did not sell. Of course styling it like a Honda did not help either.

What GM needs to do is go back to their past like they have done with the Camaro, but at the same time do some decent marketing and get the word out that their cars are really good. (I mean future cars)

I would hate to see a division like Pontiac killed off, but since these are the same guys who killed off the oldest brand in America a brand that had history like Benz and Damilier, they deserve what they get.

Here is the Problem with the American car industry. They have all these brands with the goal of keeping you with the company for your whole life. Chevy for the young person, then when you are in your late 20s you get a Pontiac then when you are in your 30s and have kids you buy your wife an Olds wagon, then when you "get the big promotion" you get a Buick. When you go to the dump, your in your GMC truck. Then when the kids leave and its just you and the old lady, you sell all the cars and pal around together in your Cadillac.

OK this works for me. but why then do you need to have Pontiac making intro level cars? why do you need Chevy Trucks? why do you need entry level Buicks?

I agree that the company needs to down size desperately, and streamline its operation. but instead of dumping off Pontiac why not focus on producing the cars that the "brand" is known for.

Mercedes has almost any car you can want, from the C-Class (for the people who would buy a Pontiac) to the S-Class (for the people who would buy a Cadillac) and they are all under one brand.

GM has so many brands that if they made each brand into just one or two models of car they would have a well balanced company. and dump Chevy trucks and keep GMC for all their Truck and large truck needs. Its all just badging anyway.

I kinda figured Buick would have the pacemaker pulled first....

ANY of the Pontiac cars can simply have the badging replaced with a bowtie and $70 million worth of advertising....
