That is a very sad turn of events. I hope you find the truth about what happened and whomever is guilty gets what they deserve.

x2. It's amazing the number of hit and run fatalities in the DC area.

Man I'm so sorry to hear that. Sounds like work of the devil to me. I hope they get whoever is responsible.

Sorry for your loss.

Combine lots of confusing roads without shoulders, perpetual rush hour, and the typical type-A driver who's time is more important than yours, and thats what driving around DC is all about. Once in a while you happen upon some kind soul who gives you a break, but don't count on it.

I was born and raised there. I'm just amazed that no one stops anymore. I remember on the VA side, a lawyer killed someone and ran.

I hope they catch this driver.

I am very sorry for you MM. I can only imagine what you are going through.

Ray... add in the morons who are eating, texting on their Crackberries, reading reports, etc and you have a real potential for disaster.

Isn't it true that diplomats and foreign dignitaries (there's an oxymoron) are immune from our laws? Like in this case...if they are involved in a H&R, they get off?

If that's the case, may Karma (should it exist) come back on that person 1,000-fold. Back in his own land...not here!

MERC Master, I can't imagine anything worse (other than if this had been a child) happening to a family member and there's no way to find out if it had been a true accident/mishap or if there was some level of criminality behind what had happened (the criminality part being on the driver, not your brother).

My condolences for your family and you on your loss.

MM,
I'm very sorry this happened. I hope they found out who did it, then devise an equally insidious punishment.

Even if an accident, there's no reason to skip out...

hire a private investigator to investigate the events of your brothers death NOW. call and interview more than one and don't be afraid to ask questions. a really good private investigator can get to the bottom of this and uncover facts that the local police just don't have the time or resources to pursue.

from the news report it seems some type of foul play was involved. a local PI is your best bet.

update: when talking with the PI ask them if they think a news release to the media might help. I'm thinking if you can get a local television news crew to cover the story in more detail someone may come forward that knows more about it. the show "48 hours" pretty much sums it up. the first 48 hours are CRITICAL. every second counts and as time goes by, witnesses forget details and evidence disappears. in other words the time to act is NOW.
