Anyone else see this VW ad?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dm32lpm4eyY

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry ... or both at the same time. It seems to me the message is "If you're a complete %^&$ing idiot, make sure you buy a VW so someone else will do the rocket-science oil changes on it."

I like VW's cars a lot, but their ads are just dreadful ...

Perfect. I'd rather be the smart wealthy Mercedes owner who does his own work, than some hippie in a VW.

The commercial hit dead nuts for me, I now want to buy a VW even less if thats possible...and I kind of want a CLS a bit more.

But don't listen to me, I actualy have a physical shudder everytime I see an old Golf or Jetta now, very bad memories...

VW

My Old Golf 1.6D took more abuse than any ten other chassis(s) combined...
(BUT the only VW's I've any use for any more would be Air Cooled,
Like Dr.Porsche intended!)

That is a poor ad. Even if the routine had been good, the delivery was lame.

This VW ad is pretty good:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51vdQqv8WKM

"What does this do?" (rolling eyes, touching the huge air scoop)

"It sucks in air."

Euro hot blond lady: "It's definitely SUCKING!"

Don't knock the Tercel 4X4 wagon. If they had been originally offered with a turbodiesel, I would probably be driving one of them instead of a Mercedes.

The used car lot I worked at had two and I loved the hell out of them. Despite one locking a brake rotor until it was glowing red and the other breaking the timing belt when it was started (Which turned out fine being a non-interference engine)....I consider the Tercel SR5 to be among my top-5 favorite car models.

Bull!!! Changing the oil on my 300D is probably one of the easiest things to do..Getting rid of the old oil is more of a hassle. Not sure about those new MBs, but who knows.

Still, who wants to take their VW to the dealer anyway? I've never heard anything good about them.

That's kind of what I look like after working underneath my TD. I figure it's just the way Mercedes engineers decided to keep the undersides rust free.

HELLS YES! I Love My Tercel... I want my sister back in her VW so I can have it back!

My sister is one of those people who loves VW, all her friends drive VW. to her VW is like a cult, I'm surprised they don't ware robes and dance around burning magnesium engine blocks.

So when her baby, her TDI that she spent more on then I spent for the down payment on my house. When it died, and she was crying with no car, I offered to let her drive the Tercel. That I paid $80 for and have been working on getting into respectable shape for the last 3 years. (that is my car in the picture above)

Now it really burns her beans that she is driving around in the Tercel, an unholy Japanese car. or as she calls it (The Turd-cell). So if its really that bad, she should hurry up and fix her car. and then the Tercel can be loved again.
