In their position you don't get to make those kind of mistakes.

Everybody does and everybody will: make mistakes, bonehead errors, poor judgment calls...Call them what you want.

In fact. Everyone is entitled to make them. It’s part of being human. We all can not be and do perfect all and every day. (Though some may think otherwise.)

Aviation just happens to be one of those fields that is relatively intolerant of them.
