I vote for the 1950's classic, Forbidden Planet.
Multiple Star Trek original series are based on its themes, and the Star Wars movie co-opted the towering, precarious power generation system.

Yeah, but Forbidden Planet ripped off Shakespeare's The Tempest
It's one of my favorite movies, I have the original DVD and the restored boxed version. My friends are amazed at how watchable it is today - most of the 50's SciFi was, of course, terrible.
