Small World Story
Some of you may remember a Forum member from way, way back: Janusz Batko. A couple of years after I met him on a visit to the states, we managed to reconnect the fall of 2007 when I was in Warsaw. At the time, he was about to relocate to a new job with Google in Zürich.
Fast forward to May 19, 2009...I'm in Cape Town on vacation and we're on the aerial tram, coming down from the top of Table Mountain. We're crowded into the car and, of course, there's a lot of nationalities represented. The guy next to me turns and asks: “Where do you live in Texas?”...well, that's weird enough but, it turns out that he's a Texan too and just sold his home in Dallas. I asked what he was doing since he sold his home and he replied that he was moving to Zürich. It begged the question: “Who do you work for in Zürich?”....Google, was the reply. Hmmm...wheels turn... “Do you know Janusz Batko? He works for Google in Zürich.” I asked. One of the other fellows the Texan was traveling with pipes up and says, “I do, Janusz worked for me in Zürich.” “He moved to Google in Krakow about two weeks ago. Great guy!” Unreal.

Tourist traps all over the world will bring you together with your city's, state's, or even people from your faraway neighborhood. I try to avoid 'em for that reason when travelling. I prefer the haunts only known to the locals, if any. Neat story, though.

I have a similar story, my son's best friend for the last 10 years here in Kentucky grew up only 2 streets over from us in Jax Fla. but they didn't meet until they move here. What are the odds that 2 families that never met move from Jax. Fla to Lancaster Kentucky at the same time.
