$999.00 charge from nowhere (paypal)

Just like the title says, $999.00 has been charged to my debit card, and removed from my checking account. I just disputed it, and when my bank (Credit Union) opens up tomorrow, I will be calling them. What else can I do, and what should I expect? I have already changed passwords on my paypal. I cannot find a number on their website to get instant information... Wtf?

I logged into my PayPal account, then used the "Contact Us" link that was with other links at the bottom of the page.
That led to a page that included a "Call Us" link that led to a page with a toll-free phone number, and giving me a "secure Web PIN", supposedly good for one hour.

The phone number they give you may depend on the type of account you have. I've read that personal accounts don't get toll-free numbers.

Here's an eBay thread that claims to have some phone numbers. The toll-free number I saw at PayPal matches one of the numbers shown in that thread; I can't personally vouch for the accuracy of the others.

Question: When you logged onto your PayPal account, was there a transaction shown there that would correspond to the charge?

There is. Nothing purchased though...

Could just be a phishing email.

They get you to log on to a look alike site (capturing your name and password), after they claim you got charge x amount of dollars.

Nope, it definitely happened, and the money is definitely not in my account anymore...

http://forums.ebay.com/db2/forum/Paypal/97 Go here and post your problem. I have used it when I had a 3 year old charge back. It worked out good. Believe it or not Paypal called me. Also here is the email to the person I contacted direct ashley@paypal.com
