Ever hear or see this car?

Today my sons friend came over with a Corvette that she just inherited from her Grandparents. Its a 1992 Le Marquis Tempest Corvette Convertable. This is not your ordinary Corvette. It has a top speed of over 200MPH and can get to 60mph in 3.9 seconds. She told me that her grandfather purchased the car for around $50,000. But now its 2009 and we are trying to figure out whats it value? My son who loves cars says its worth around the $100,000 mark. But thats his guess. Does anyone on here know Corvettes at all or ever hear of this car? I know its not a Chevy forum but this is rare rare car. Only 35 Made from what we found. I got in the car it is a automatic and the car has about 11,000 miles on it.

Based on those specs....

Seriously though I have no idea, if its that old with those numbers I would suspect that its a race car but I'm probably wrong.

Not a race car but sure as hell dirves like one. The three of us drove it around for a little while today and its very very fast. She just wants to find out the value of it or if she should keep it.

I seriously doubt anyone would pay 100k for that car. A stretch for even half that. You can get perfect ZR1s for under 30k, Callaways for maybe $10,000 more. Not old enough to be collectible, nor the best Corvette platform. My guess would be somewhere around Callaway prices. Do some research there. The performance and looks are similar.

Nice looking car anyway, and I've never heard of one before.

Curb Weight: 3270 lbs
Displacement: 6667 cc
Horsepower: 535 bhp @ 5800 rpm
Torque: 627 lb-ft @ 3800 rpm
0-60 mph: 3.9 sec
0-100 mph: 8.8 sec

Faster than a new Z06 I think.

I dont know about its value, I can't find anything. Pretty sure Le Marquis is long gone.

If its a respected tuner it might have a high value now or some day.

If its not it could be worth less than a stocker.

I am guessing it has some extra value. I'd search the internet for it and see what I could find.

I'll post up on the corvette forum and see what they have to say.

I have no idea but I'll give my father's friend a call, he's a Corvette Club of America judge.

Better pictures of one... http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z2046/Chevrolet-Corvette-Tempest.aspx

Apparently it is a 'Vette that was tuned by a company named Le Marquis. So far, i have been unable to turn up any information on the tuner, and they may have closed. I would equate this to something like AMG, where they, before MB bought them, were the tuners of special MB cars.

As far as current value, I would contact a Chevrolet dealer and find out if they know much about them

The Tempest is not in high demand: now their other car, the Le Marquis De Sade Coupe has a highly devoted following.....

sort of cool looking in a Miami Vice, kit car kind of way.....
