Projection TV Lamp
My Samsung HL-R6167W needs a new lamp. Many sites sell Philips or Osram. I am looking for the best lamp that will last the longest.
|
Any lamp you buy should have a rated life. Find the one that's rated highest. At work we push projection lamps beyond their life limits - the output eventually degrades and they do explode frequently.

Buy the Osram . . . otherwise your cruise control might not function properly. ;)

Try doing a Forum search using Osram bulbs and see what you get. |
When you first turn them on...be sure you're happy where the projector is sitting...and DON'T MOVE IT UNLESS THE BUILDING IT'S IN IS ON FIRE...
Once those bulbs get hot, they're as fragile as the mantles in those Coleman Camp Lanterns... When you shut the projector off, CAREFULLY REMOVE ANY CABLES ATTACHED TO THE UNIT...or better yet, let the unit cool down for about 15 minutes before disturbing the dang thing...hot filaments break REALLY EASY... Obviously, I know...$400.00 or more for a frickin' bulb is pretty dang outrageous...but, when you need one, and there's only one to be had...youse gots to pay da' piper!  :o (Can you tell I hate those things?!?) |
I wonder how many projectors bite the dust during earthquakes in CA. :D :D ;)
|
How long do those suckers last? Our DLP has LEDs instead of light bulb so it should be a long time before it needs replacing.
