Question for Computer Kids

I have a Gateway laptop model MX8734 with Vista home premium installed. I have been all through the mouse options in the control panel, but don't see any way to eliminate the tap feature on the mouse pad. Is there a way?

I came to hate that feature. I’d be typing along and sooner or later my thumb would drift downward until it brushed the pad and, *poof* several minutes of work, disappeared faster than an insubordinate Iranian. My computer has a ^Z, but they don’t.

Anyway, you can search for a program that will run at start up to disable that feature. It may also be found in the computer’s BIOS setup, or if there is a specific driver provided by Gateway.

But the quickest and easiest way is to put a business card over the touch pad interface and use an external mouse

Eliminate the tap feature meaning disable the function of the touchpad entirely? If so you can do that by disabling the whole device in the control panel. Find it, right click and disable and it's off.

I could tell you how in XP. And I would ASSUME it was the same in Vista.. HA HA HA. Maybe that feature has been "improved" away?

I know what you mean. Maybe it is at least similar enough that I could figure it out. How with XP? Tap feature only.

Control Panel
Printers and other hardware
Mouse
Touchpad
Tapping (deselect box)

I think that should do it.
