computer Question.

I can't seem to download Flash Player.I am running a 64 bit system and a message is telling it is only for a 32bit system. Why is this simple task giving me such a problem?

Are you trying to install it in Internet Explorer or Firefox?

GermanStar 06-23-2009 07:29 PM

I believe your best work-around is to install a 32-bit browser.

Are you "running a 64 bit system" or actually running a 64 bit version of windows?

Having a "64 bit processor" doesn't mean your system is 64 bit. And if you indeed are running a 64 bit OS....why? What do you do that requires it?

Keep in mind that for some reason, a lot of computer companies are preloading the 64 bit OS on the machine. I've had two friends in the past week having problems with drivers when it was discovered that they were loaded with the 64 bit OS. Most common users and of course the Best Buy people have no clue as to the difference.

What is the difference?

A 64-bit OS is capable of running more sophisticated software and is able to access vastly larger amounts of RAM than a 32-bit OS. It can also speed things up by taking advantage of the 64-bit CPU's that are available.

I wasn't aware places are loading 64-bit OS's onto regular systems. Sounds like a good way to burden the tech support department!

A friend bought a new HP system, and it came loaded with Vista x64....

Actually, some Dells I have worked on shipped with x64 os's.

I am running Firefox which i believe is 32-bit. I am using IE for Facebook only, and it keeps asking me to load Adobe Flash player.I need to switch back to FF but i don't know how to do that. I have the Rt. click to switch to IE but back yo FF.

If the version of Flash player you are trying to download requires a 32 bit OS and you have the 64 bit OS (Vista), then I believe you a screwed. Not aware of wether or not there's a 64 bit Flash for Vista. I run Linux at home and we only use XP at work.

I run Firefox on Linux and I can access Facebook without any trouble. Of course, I don't subscribe to any of their ad-pushing apps, so I don't need (or want!!!) ActiveX.
