Americas Best Eye Glasses...NOT
So I was forced to change insurance companies recently and found there is but only one place that accepts my insurance...Americas Best.
And they're certainly BY FAR from the best. No wonder they give you the second pair free. First off the only style they have is the Randy Jackson type. You know, rectangular with the torise shell looking plastic frames. They have hundreds to choose from but they're all the exact same style. Got nothing against the look, it's just not for me. So I have to get something I don't want.... The ear pieces go straight back and do not curl around your ear. At first they stay on nicely but then your head gets indentations from the ear pieces pressing against it and the damn things constantly slide right off. Maybe my title should have been another [expensive] insurance company thats worthless because now I'm going out and paying out of pocket for my glasses. Rant over....actually am wondering if anybody has anything good to say about Americas Best???

Finding a pair of glasses that I like and which work well for a price I can afford is really hard. I dread it when it's tiime to get new glasses.

$400 seems the norm for me.

Getting old and having to have multifocal, coated, tinted, scratch-proof, specialty, whoopty-doo glasses sucks, doesn't it?

Same here, but I am sorely tempted to spend the money if I can get both eyes done for ~$2k (assuming it's a well-regarded doctor). I need to at least go in for a consultation. What I wouldn't give to be able to ditch the specs (and prescription sunglasses)!

How about contacts?
I have dealt with bi-focals for the last five years, and got tired of having to grab (or find) my glasses just to do the simplest of tasks. I've been wearing contacts for over a year now, and while there are some issues, it's good to not have to ensure that your glasses are on hand prior to doing something or venturing somewhere. Unfortunately, contacts aren't the perfect solution. My eyes get irritated within a week of wearing the lenses for prolonged periods, so I have to alternate between contacts and glasses. I'm doing glasses this week...

If I sold my TD I could afford the operation and do away with glasses. I'm wearing glasses...the TD stays.
Hmmmm....real good thought there Mistress. I do still have my other frames. Contacts....out of the question. First off I cannot afford to have my eyes watering while I get used to them. Need my eyes too much in my line of work which brings me to point two....my hands are always dirty and I can't see myself going into the bathroom, cleaning up, then taking contacts in/out. And dust...I'm around a lot of dust and I've heard others say their contacts bother them when they're around dust.
