AK47 documentary...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na2_Nw31BBI&feature=fvst
They talk about the gun runner that Lord Of War was based on. |
Not the best documentary I've seen, but it still makes me want to take my AK out shooting. Maybe later today, maybe tomorrow.
BTW, I qualified on the M240B last week. Good times:D |
I want to buy one even more now, my favorite gun ever.
|
I'm torn. On the one hand, I have to think "awesome invention" and I'd definitely want one were I under attack.
OTOH, I have to think "holy $h!t." Hordes of child soldiers. That's what the world needs more of, all right. |
If not the AK they would be using something else. Its just the cheapest tool their "leaders" can supply them with.

My G/F had to learn how to assemble/disassemble an AK-47 in school. In Russia. In the late 70's.
She said she got pretty good at it too!;) Of course, they never had to learn to shoot the weapon. ( Or so she says.:o) |

Nothing to learn, point the pointy end at the capitalist pig and pull the trigger. The AK ain't exactly a precesion rifle, spray and pray. |

At what range does the accuracy start tailing off in the hands of the average 10 yr.old African shooter? Does that weapon have much of a recoil? |

The accuracy varies with the manufacturer of the particular AK and the quality of the ammo. Mine is a cheapo Romanian one and I'd have a pretty high confidence of hitting a man-sized target out to about 150 yards using Wolf or other Russian FMJ ammo. I'm good for about twice that distance with an M-16. Recoil is subjectively about double that of an M-16, still easily tolerated by almost any adult and apparently many children.
