What kind of music you guys like?

Just curious!

I'm a fan of lots of music, just about anything technical. Big fan of metal/hardcore, jazz, classical, old funk, and a lot of trance ("techno"). Of course being raised on classic rock and punk I'm partial to that as well.

Jazz, especially fusion from any era (everything from Miles' *****es Brew to Greg Howe, Bela Fleck, Scott henderson, etc.). I dig 70's funk. I think there was a point last year when Parliament was all I listened to for like a month straight. Sometimes I dg neoclassical. I play guitar, so I'm generally sort of a snob...

I like most kinds of music but I have the hardest time finding good stuff in country and heavy hardcore metal. Greatest preference is jazz and not the elevator type.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who's blasting hardcore from a mercedes That would be my #1, funk probably #2, Trance #3, Jazz #4.
My funk preference is probably any of the early stuff. I've never been a huge fan of Parliament, a good example of my favorites would be Rose Royce on the Car Wash soundtrack (one of my favorite albums ever). Jazz - just kinda everything from acid to fusion to salsa, afro-beat, not too much big-band stuff unless it is on vinyl. For classical I'm a huge Vivaldi fan, mostly Baroque period composers are my liking though a lot of different stuff appeals too.

Phil what kind of metal and hardcore do you listen to? I might be able to give you some suggestions.

I like all kinds of music as long as it is done well. Last night I was listening to some big band music. This morning AC/DC . . . I love jazz alot.

As a sure sign that I am becoming a geezer, I have been loading the wife's iPod with 70s music - Tower of Power, Jeff Beck, and Stevie Wonder have been making frequent appearances lately. (I use her iPod while mowing, which I do for about 6 hours a week.)

I have also been enjoying a relatively recent version of "Gentle on my Mind" played by John Hartman's son (I forget the son's name), accompanied by Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, and a bass player whose name escapes me.

I also like Elvis Costello's recent album of country songs. That's the sort of thing the pop country stations should be playing.

80's thrash and death metal mostly. cannibal corpse, slayer, amon amarth, megadeth, early metallica, motorhead, etc. some black metal, norwegian viking/norse stuff. and then some good indie rock and roll at times. got a soft spot for 80's hair metal too.....and i absolutely love 50's rock. i spent 12 years of my life being a hardcore punk rocker and sometimes i can listen to some of that stuff and like it, but i'm a little old for it now. exploited, crass, misfits, discharge, disrupt, doom, destroy!, etc. i'm not so angry anymore.... my wife really got me into The Band, who i absolutely love. and then there's gram parsons, merle haggard, johnny cash, and the like. i guess i like any genre as long as it's a little rebellious... the only stuff i can't listen to is techno/breakcore/dance music made on computers. yuck.

I can hear it when the parents of the guys in that band (I assume it's not a girl band) get together with old friends - "So nice to see you. How's little Johnny doing these days?" "Just great. He's got a new band. It's called cannibal corpse. We are so proud."

Amazingly to me very much the same with the very same thoughts on 80's & 50's rock and techno/breakcore/dance, although I didn't get quite as deep on the punk end.

But I'll also do country (lots of older, some newer), speed country, classic rock and bagpipes as well.
