Yip, the brokers that focused on sub-prime are now using their client list to charge their old clients to get out of the loan they placed them in the first place...insane.
OTOH, some of them are ethical and do provide a valuble service for those who don't know how to handle mortgage companies, in some cases law firms are advertising Forensic Mortgage Reports which use super duper software to scour your loan for inaccuracies which I bet 90% of all loans during the boom had to some extent.

If you're stupid enough to get caught in one of those mortgages, then you're certainly stupid enough to cough up $3400 to these idiots to get you out of the mess that they helped you get into.
"A fool and his money are soon parted", and in this case there are a lot of fools who thought they were living large - okay, they were living large, but maybe only for a year or two. It's hard to blame the bottom feeders while not also blaming the clients.
