pull-a-part, best thing since sliced bread.

I recently went to pull a part for the first time ever. I was tired of getting bent over by the cleveland local mercedes junkyard. (Intercity auto. it sucks!)
He tried to charge me 125.00 for a fan clutch pulley/housing for my w124 m103.

I went to pull a part and bought the pulley, housing, and an idle control valve for 14.83.

I went there again this morning and took the water pump, cylinder head, intake (and all the trimmings ) ,valve cover, tensioner pulley, and more for a staggering 122.00

Reminds me, I need to take a day and go diving. Got a whole street dedicated to pull your own yards here, including one with a complete, undented 6.9. It's nice to just go grab stuff off random cars for future and potential projects.

I love pick n pull here. They have quite a selection of MBs and a lot are euro models. I got a good looking climate control module with perfect wood trim for $10. You get an electric leather seat for $25. I got two seats, two visors, wood trim, carpet, brand new looking cap and rotor, and rear view mirror for about $120 with taxes.

The local U Pull yards are here have a printed price list, so you know the price for anything before you pull it. Also the prices are set regardless of Make, so Mercedes parts cost the same a Chevy or Ford parts.

Same here. Our yards are also organized by make. All Mercedes in one area, all Lincolns in another. The cars are all on welded rims that act as jack stands, so they are off the ground. The area is cleared of weeds and other vegetative growth, so it's safe to enter the area without fear of snake, rats, and the like.
