I got engaged yesterday

Yesterday I decided to pop the big question to my girlfriend of 3 years. I tactfully placed the engagement ring under the hood of my 300e. If you have read any of my earlier posts, I seem to be on a aluminum polishing kick. She got home from work and I was bugging her about looking at my newly polished power steering cover. She is always annoyed on how much time I spend working on that car. She hesitated, then finally opened the hood. I did the whole one knee thing, said my words. She paused for a few seconds, and then gave me the following response:

"Now you can NEVER get rid of this mercedes!"

Have my cake and eat it too.

That's a good story.

I heard a funny proposal story the other day. A friend's dad has always been a constant joker and I mean that in a good way. The guy is funny all the time. When he was ready to propose to my friend's future mother, he kept dropping hints that he was about to pop the question. He had it all set up. They went to a fancy restaurant. He got all serious and said, "There's something very important that we need to talk about... I've got a wife and three kids." After she got over the shock and figured out that it was another of his jokes, he proposed and she said yes.

To her credit, she actually likes my mercedes. She complains about them because I spend too much time in the garage. She is a good woman, I could only hope that we can be married for forever.

I guess if you think about it, owning a mercedes is like being married. (not that I really know anything about the married part) You get frustrated sometimes, and you think about "trading in for a newer model" (pun intended), but then you realize that you have a bond with it, and you will never find that in another "vehicle".

"For better or for worse"...... They should say that before you ever buy your first old benz.

Ummm, I'm confused. Did she say that you have to keep the Benz because of the emotional attachment she now feels for it or because you did such a good job of polishing?

Congrats!

Yes but unlike an MB, you can't always soup her up, or can you?
