1991 Toyota Previa Startup

My 1991 Toyota Previa has 272,000 miles on it.Sometimes when starting it,even when the engine is warm,it will take a few seconds of turning the key for it to turn on.Other times, even when the car has not been driven in a few days it will turn on immediately without hesitation.Any ideas on what this could be.

You mean a few seconds of cranking? Or a hesitation before it begins cranking.

A few seconds of cranking on an old motor is normal.....it could be a worn/weak fuel pump...fuel check valves....pressure regulator....etc....

What ignition parts have been replaced?

I'd say its pretty likely to help/solve it....my uncle had a similar issue with his 1996 Cavalier....a tune up got it back to running perfectly.

I would be suspicious of fuel pressure leakdown...

That can be checked easily, just turn the key to "ON" (not start) and listen for the fuel pump, when it stops running the lines will be pressurized - then start the car. If it starts right away, that's your problem. However, if you haven't changed out the plugs in a while, they probably need it anyway. Also look at your plug wires - if any one of them look brittle and cracked, they are way past needing replacement!

Same problem with my Toyota Supra, clean/replace the Cold start injector. May also need a tune-up.
