Costco/Kirkland Libations

This weekend I bought the 24 bottle "case" of Kirkland brews (Pale Ale, Amber Ale, German Lager, and Hefeweizen six packs) and found them quite refreshing. Turns out they're brewed by Gordon Biersch in San Jose, the same brewery that makes the Trader Joe's label.

Anybody have the clues on where Costco's vodka or wines are made?

My wife, a 24 year veteran with Costco managing membership departments in Cali, Ohio, and now Utah, will do her best to find out. For the most part, it's kept under wraps who supplies the grapes and such.

I know that Costco was the largest wholesaler/retailer of wine in Cali at one point, and i think they may still be. They have a great selection in many stores. It's a damned shame that Utah has laws prohibiting Costco from selling it here.

I was told that Cost Co does not mess around with the Kirkland brand. They try and get the best to produce under their name. Someone told me that their Vodka is actually Grey Goose. I did a brief search but it did not yield a definitive answer.

Looks like I'll have to get myself a Costco membership! I had no idea they even sold alcohol. How is their wine selection - do they only have their own brands? I'm a big wine guy, been going mostly to the wine supermarkets (total wine rocks!).

Costco has buying power that keeps their prices low. other places order it by the case, Costco buys it by the skid.
