Compuiter mystery of the day, printing pdf

In todays episode we have a windows Vista machine and an Epson printer, and Acrobat Reader 8.0

The printer is installed and can print documents and test pages fine. However, it will never print any pdf. It says something like "unable to complete print job. Is printer available?"

I have tried all my short list of magic powers. Any ideas?

Well the Foxit reader did the trick! Does anyone know why? Is it another case of Vista-itis?
