Horror on Thursday afternoon.

I was standing in front of our shop yesterday afternoon, when I saw 2 kids starting to cross the street. Our street is 3 lane and the 2 far lanes had stopped. The kids were rushing to cross the street when I saw a car in the closest lane go by and saw that their paths were going to meet. Sure enough, the car hit the first child and I just screamed,,, I could not believe what I saw. Our son ran out of the shop and saw what happened and ran to help in any way he could. As he got there, he saw it was his son,,, my grandson. We both went crazy,,, I sunk to the ground and screamed, as I heard him scream,,, "that's my son,, that's my son". One of the first cars which had stopped to let the kids pass was a police car and they saw the whole event. They stopped traffic and an ambulance was there within 5 minutes. The person who hit my grandson was completely innocent and was devastated. They lifeflighted him to Childrens Hospital in Pittsburgh and at this writing, he has a fractured skull,,, is really beat up, but has a 100% chance of complete recovery. I will have nightmares for the rest of my life of what I saw yesterday, but I thank the Lord,,, he will be fine. Life changes in an instant.

That's horrible. I'm glad to hear he'll be OK.

I'll pray for a speedy and complete recovery.

Not good to hear about the collision. Good to hear that he will recover. It could have been much worse.

Wow, that is just terrible. I cannot imagine how horrible that must have been for you and your son, and I really hope your grandson recovers well both physically and emotionally; I'm sure it was terrifying for him. Also hope the person who hit him can recover emotionally ... that is one of my worst nightmares as a driver.

It's a blessing that the policeman was there and that the ambulance got there so fast. It's amazing what those folks do every day.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

I wish you, your family and the little boy well, and they will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Also thanking the Police and EMT responders silently, and thinking also, even about the driver of the car that hit him, as innocent as you said he was, that he does not suffer over this either.

I hope the recovery is 100% perfect and very quick.

My thoughts and prayers are with you guys. Your grandson got off lucky. He will be able to tell his kids about the day he was hit by a car! How old is he?

My kid can tell his kids about the day his dad backed the car over him. Kids have a wonderful way of bouncing back from this type of thing.

Probably the one who needs the most help is your son. I am sure he aged 20 years in an instant.

OMG my prayers are with your grandson for a speedy recovery!

I have seen accidents like this almost happen a number of times in the center of town. Its two lanes on one side of the green and one car will stop, but the other wont. Adults usualy figure on this and look, but kids, they don't! A 5 year old died a few years ago because of this.
