I think I know this one dude. I think it is the main control module. When my wife was in a wreck in 1995 in a 1987 Volvo 240 DL, and when we was parting out the car we were told that this module was worth $300, I don't know what it's worth today though.

Yep, it's an ECU.

Google your PN (note it's 227, not 277) with quotes around it and you'll find a few references.

OK I found this:
Quote:
0 280 000 563 is the number of the ECU in the car right now. When I have a chance, I'll get at the EZK, but it's such a damn hassle I don't have time today.

The old EZK was 0 227 400 126
and the old ECU was 0 280 000 933

Maybe that can tell you something.

I ordered a new relay, I think when it gets here I'm going to redo the wiring from the fan to the relay and then plug in the new relay, maybe that will finally fix it.
So this part is an EZK?
What's an EZK and what Does it do?

What does the ECU control?

Danny

Biodegradable black box. It connects to the biodegradable wiring harness.

Sell the Volvo immediately before it turns to dust.

x2!

My dad loved volvos but I had one and that was enough for me. They cannot hold candle to a benz on quality, IMHO. I have never been able to figure out how they got such a rep for quality.

The old 144 he had was the toughest, but their electrical stuff was about equal to Lucas and was in some cases.

Thanks CSCMC!, just what I was looking for!

I only bought it because I wanted something safe for my daughter in law's first car. Also it was within the budget. Not knowing all the trouble it was going to cause.

I had a 1980 GLT wagon. Had to do the blower fan replacement. Not as bad as on a 115 chassis (which I have to do REAL soon on my '76 300D), but close. As I recall, I took at least one seat out to make it easier! Car was a tank, but rusted in strange areas. Front struts were disintegrating before my eyes. Still, all black with dark tinted windows. Good looking ride even if it was slower than a 123 240D auto off the line. I will say parts were not too bad for it.
