anyone know of a honest, affordable mechanic(non mb) in Gainesville?

A girl I know in the UF area had an accident with her honda and the hood opens but it is a pita to close. She is afraid to drive it on the highway (hood fly open, etc)

so, does anyone know of an honest person that can look at the hood mechanism for her and double check to make sure its safe.

thanks

unfortunately, I do not. however, when relying on the yellow pages, I've taken to checking out car people with the BBB. if they have ten unresolved complaints, I RUN the other direction. I like mechanics who are members of the BBB and have a flawless record. to me, it says they give a rip about their customers and work hard to please.......

Shouldnt be alot harder then spraying everything with PB blaster, working it a few times, then spraying it with garage door lubercant...

Unless it was crashed, has really high miles, or something else happened, there should be no need for any adjustment to the latch on the hood...

It cannot be hard to fix. If it's a beater, get hood pins so she feels better about it...

I use to live in Jacksonville Fla, just a few miles from Gainesville Fla. There is a little town just before Gainesville that will give you a big ass speeding ticket, so be careful. Also you need to stop by the original Sonny's BBQ it's the best BBQ in the state.

If this is still needed, I'd try the autocrossers in the area. They usually have regional forums you could ask on.

The town is called Waldo.

If you go a couple of miles over the limit you get a ticket. Nice place.

I think giving out tickets is their only source of income for the police dept. Also don't thik about running, that dept. has some bad assed mustangs that WILL catch you. Don't ask me how I know this.

I strongly second this advice.

I went to UF and there was a notorious shop called Haney's Automotive that would actually go out of their way to make sure you come back.

Someone brought a car to them for an oil change. They put a pin prick into the radiator hose. Sorta like a time release capsule. The car will run long enough so it does not get traced back to them later on when it busts the hose.

Be especially careful in Gainesville!!!! Go Gators
