First spotting of the "season"?

Maybe it's me and the fact I try not to go into any chain stores but I'm laying claim to the first Christmas tree display sighting. Lowe's (a big box hardware store chain) actually has artificial Christmas tree (what an ironic symbol of a holiday gone commercial!) displays up with lights, wreathes and all the usual tacky accessories in their main entrance.

September 26th? Did I miss something or are we still using the standard calender?

Ordinarily it's Walgreen's followed by Ace Hardware but I think Lowe's got the jump on them. Anybody else seen an X-mas display?

p.s., X-mas trees in the desert are enough of a shock but this?

Back in August 1968, while a UC Santa Barbara student, in fact I *DID* see Christmas decorations and Christmas crap for sale at a big chain Department store, called "DISCO" <-----this was many years before the "Disco" craze that begain about 1975, btw.

I am really glad that place went out of business years ago, as you can imagine.

Now I despise Christmas because it is nothing more than a commerical blitz designed to maximize commercial profits.

Disgusting, I abhor it. I have a vague idea from long ago, Christmas
actually was about someone's birthday.

If possible, I would like to spend all of December every year in some place like the Maldives or the Seychelles islands to get away from all that crap.
