If your uncle is taking a 5mpg hit I'd wager that's more about a lead foot than the 2-300 extra pounds a 4Matic carries around.

We get 24 or 25 mpg in the winter and 25 or 26 in the summer with a 70/30 highway/city split, and that is with a wagon. I'd expect to do a little better with a sedan.

I'd say it's more like 2-3 mpg. I have averaged 22.4 mpg for the last 5-6k miles in mixed 20/80 city highway driving 10 mile commute each way

I managed 24 out of mine going 65 the whole way. A friend was following me in Rotchester, which is about as fast as it can go without risking life and limb.

Funny that you say this. I am in the same boat as you. My 2000 C Class just died so its gone now and need to replace it. We looked at couple 06 C280 4matic. If you dont have a need for the FWD dont get it then. HOw manuy miles do you commute to work? And funny that you say E320. I actually looked into a 2003-2004 E Class but it is very hrd to find one under warrenrty. Do you get any snow where you arE? Where I am we get a ton of snow and since it will be my sons car and he lived up north at College we are debating on to get the AWD or just a normal one with a great set of snowtires. Not sure what. We are still looking around.
